I thought I would start a simple blog to upload pictures of Diego and link to family. I know this could be a lame way to connect other than phone or writing a real life letter. But I thought we could start in on this and have a bi-directional conversation about what works for us and what doesn’t.

Working at a think, link and do tank has been challenging for me; not the work just the everyday co-existance of getting through the mundane to work on the challenging and cool stuff. One of the areas I am working on is better connecting with schools because of the issues we have been having with Diego’s school: the lunches are junk, too many kids in the class room (26), and well it is so institutional…and this is suppose to be a high performing school.

Diego is very resilient and is so independent: marching off to school each day, getting his homework done on time (he is only in Kindergarten) and having fun at his after school–because mommy and daddy have to work until 5:00 and god forbid the schools day should be lengthen! But I am a frustrated and exasperated…so I decided to align with other moms and am inviting Amy Kalafa of “Two Angry Moms” filmmaker to discuss what it was like to start this movement. Check out her and susan’s film: http://www.angrymoms.org/inner/about.html

Great stuff.

So tell me what you think of this video and the Two Angry Moms? There is more to this than about changing a public institution…it is about being citizens and not consumers! So is this Web 2.0 blog…about citizenship.
