The projects of New Commons can vary in length from a one-time engagement to a continuing relationship. These projects represent New Common's capabilities in urban design, local economies, community engagement, convening and facilitation. The projects presented below are highlights of over 500 consulting projects designed and delivered by New Commons since it began in 1982. Timeline: 2006 - Present In a post-industrial community, downtown revitalization and community transformation are social, economic and ecological priorities. The fact that our urban centers are not ‘renewed' to meet 21st century conditions is impacting the whole. The Pawtucket Agenda which includes as a member the Pawtucket Foundation, is a community driven strategic platform based on 21st century ‘whole' place-making. The primary intention of the Pawtucket Agenda is to bring key networks together within Pawtucket and to create bottom-up, organic innovation that is authentically Pawtucket, and is for the whole community. |
Timeline: 1995 A neighborhood-focused planning entity: Designed and facilitated two, three-month, intensive, city-wide planning processes to pursue enterprise zone funding, one in 1995 and one in 2000. Our role included facilitated all of the process and drafting the proposal/plan. The submission was successful in 1995. |

The Department of Environmental Management for the State of RI Timeline: 2006 - Present Formation and facilitation of the stakeholders group to develop a predictable and transparent public participation process for environmental justice and equity projects where the land requires remediation and clean up. Includes, staff leadership development and an online portal for citizens and professionals to access and use. |
Comprehensive Plan -Jamestown, RI Town of Jamestown, RITimeline: 2002 - 2007 An orchestrated and facilitated workshop series, held among residents, to look at the villages parking issues and develop recommendations. Currently, New Commons serves on a four-person consulting team with Donald Powers, Cornish Associates, and Sandy Sorlein, to develop design guidelines, form-based code, and a pattern-book to guide the development of the village of Jamestown. |

Timeline: 1997 - 2006 A specialized real estate development company dedicated to the principles of New Urbanism and responsible development practices, which includes new development using the models of traditional neighborhoods and a revitalization of urban centers: Strategy, organizational design, and working to leverage assets. New Commons produced two strategic plans. |
Timeline: Fall 2005 - Summer 2006 Helped conceive and implement Congress of New Urbanism conference held in Providence, RI, June 2006: Robert Leaver and Larry Quick served on the executive committee of the CNUXIV and created a new CNU offering: "Urban Laboratories" for Congress participants to engage in the problems and work on solutions for targeted areas of Providence. The results of the laboratories have created an on-going conversation. |

The Blackstone Valley Partnership Timeline: 2005 - Present Communities are not islands, and to maximize the the development of their individual development strengths they need to play a key role in regional thinking, networks, and activity. The Blackstone Valley Partnership is a strategic network of stakeholders/practitioner spanning the Blackstone valley from Worcester to Providence, crossing the RI and Mass border. The Partnership has taken on the responsibility to forge regional links and a network throughout the Valley and to work on strategies and projects that will create a strategic, connective 'fabric' within the region. |
South Kingstown Town Council and Chamber of Commerce Timeline: 2006 - Present This is an innovative Chamber in South County, RI that is working to advance the small businesses in the area through collaborative projects: Improving the business climate and economic planning for the town. |

National Workforce Readiness Council Timeline: January 2007 Strategic plan and governance for this national organizational focused on putting in place standards and accountability for entry-level workforce readiness |
Timeline: 1997 - Present The national trade association for over 10,000 retail jewelers: Strategic planning, affiliate relations, and now the design and delivery of J-Biz - a professional education program for independent retail jewelers across America. |
