The Smithfield Place-Making Project Timeline: 2006 - 2007 Communities are multi-faceted and sustain themselves through the connectedness and relationship of their social, economic, ecological, cultural, knowledge and built environments and systems. For a community as a whole to work, all of these interdependent systems need to work in sync with each other - if this is not understood there is a chance that any intervention may cause more problems than it solves. The Smithfield Place-making project analyzes the Town of Smithfield across all of these six ‘lenses' into community and informs the Town as to what place-making strategies will best serve it as a whole, where they may achieve the best synergies, and what catalytic activity is best to create the most efficient and effective result. |
